Just testing out the new rolling mill. I will be using it a lot! These pieces of copper and brass have been rolled in the mill with pieces of antique lace.
I can’t wait to finish this necklace, the leaves I plan to roll the silver with are drying.

Once a month I am going to post one tip for making jewelry.
Most of these tips I have found in articles and learned from other jewelers.
So lets get started!
Tip Of The Month- March 9, 2016
How to make your own locking earring posts.
Sure you can just take a piece of wire and solder it to the back of an earring, But it just doesn’t have the professional finished quality of a locking post.
If you take that piece of wire and put it in your flex shaft
and using a pair of round nose pliers, pinch it with a light even pressure
turn the flex shaft at a low to medium speed.
You get a locking point for an ear nut. Now just clean up the end with some sand paper, while turning it in the flex shaft, or take it out and use a cup bur and it is ready to solder on to an earring

These earrings are so cool! I love the way they move, both the center handmade copper bead and the sterling silver ring spin independently. The slight weight of the bead and the ring give a nice pendulum action while moving around.
