Tip Of The Month E4

Tip Of The Month- August, 17, 2016

This is an important tip!

Get yourself THE BEST TOOLS you can afford!

I just broke my cheap little third hand, you know the little weighted stand with a ball joint that holds a pair of cross locking tweezers.

I was looking for something better and found this at RIO GRANDE!

3rd and 4th hand with soldering station. It is a little expensive but I don’t know what I would do without it now that I have been using it!

all parts are replaceable, down to the tips on the clips, and the fire board.

Point of Impact- Is Coming Along Nicely, it is Now Going to Have a Rose Cut Rainbow Moonstone

I am trying to figure out how I am going to solder all these pieces together with three solder temps

20160805_115851

The only thing missing from this picture is the bail

This is how they fit together

This is almost what it will look like with the addition of a ring for a bail and the hexagon piece of metal will be filed back and shaped

The Bubbly- Is a Sterling Silver and Yellow Rose-cut Diamond Pendant

I thought of making this necklace while I was melting some casting grain into a ball for another project.

thebubbly-1

Just before the grains melt they fuse together but are still granular and right there I decided to make this necklace.

thebubbly-4

I melted a larger ball for the stone and then added some more casting grain, moved it around till I liked how it looked.

thebubbly-2

Then I heated it just till the grain fused together but stopped before I lost the granular composition of the piece.

Hope you enjoy my posts and this wonderful piece of jewelry if you happen to purchase it!

Tip Of The Month E3

Tip Of The Month- May,09,2016

Hello everyone,

I have a texture hack for you today, this past winter I was wondering how to get that cool texture that is just like a soft mottled texture like I have on this piece I am working on.

fashionpair

I love this texture its like grunge texture and it will look awesome when I patina it. the trick I found is to use a weighted nylon mallet and a fire brick, just place the piece of metal face down on the fire brick and hammer it with medium force, you may also want to move it around to get more variety of pattern.

New – Fretz Riveting and Texturing Hammer

This is my new hammer, its so beautiful!

20160324_192939

I can use it to rivet two pieces of metal together or make some nice patterns like this one

I think I am going to put it on the wall on display.

Romeo- A Sterling Silver And 14K Gold Spinner Ring

This ring starts out as sheet and wire.

romeo-1

I hammer a pattern with a riveting hammer, first in one direction and then in the other direction to give it a cross pattern.

romeo-2

I then anneal it, bend it in to a ring, and solder.

romeo-3

now it is a wide ring, I sand one side flush and use my dividers to the width I want the ring to be, scribe and saw or file to the line the.

romeo-4

now I put on the finished spinner rings made of silver and gold wire. I then flare the sides of the ring with a dapping pinch larger then the inside of the ring and with a light tapping with a weighted nylon mallet flare the edges of the ring.

All done ready to wear!

Tip Of The Month E2

Tip Of The Month- April 10, 2016

If you have ever stamped a piece of metal you know how hard it can be to line everything up. The last thing you need to worry about is the metal moving. so the tip is blue painters tape, any tape will do but painters tape won’t leave gunk on your metal or bench block
